Welcome to the Jefferson County Online Permitting Portal
Jefferson County is pleased to offer its citizens, businesses, and visitors, access to improved government services online, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
After registering and creating a public user account, the online Accela ACA Citizen Access will allow the customers of Jefferson County to:
- Research public information
- Register as a Contractor
- Apply for a permit or application (Environmental Services or Development Services)
- Schedule inspection online
- View and track the status of an application
- Make secure online payments
A permit from Jefferson County is required for all new construction, alterations, and repairs in unincorporated areas. In addition, An Erosion and Sediment Control Permit (ESC) Permit is also required for any land-disturbing activity and can be applied for online through the Planning section of the Accela ACA Citizen Access portal.
Sanitary Sewer or Septic Tank approval is required for all new construction and mobile home placements.
Determining Your Property Jurisdiction
Before starting any construction, requesting services, or filing a complaint, determine your property’s jurisdiction. In Jefferson County, a property may be within a city/town (incorporated) or in unincorporated County. Laws and procedures vary by jurisdiction, so confirm whether your property is in Unincorporated Jefferson County before beginning your project.
You can use the CAPture system or the Jefferson County Tax Assessor Map to help you determine in which jurisdiction the property is located.
